News broke on Monday morning that Arsenal's sporting director would be leaving his role following five years at the club. The Brazilian played under Arsene Wenger and was brought in to assist Mikel Arteta during his rebuilding project. However, after manufacturing deals for the likes of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, Edu will now head to the Midlands to join Nottingham Forest, according to reports.

Edu will link up with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis and is in talks with the Marinakis group about leading recruitment for all clubs associated with them. This would put him in charge of Greek side Olympiacos and Portuguese club Rio Ave as well as the Tricky Trees.

The 46-year-old was keen to become CEO at Arsenal but had a difficult road to the top. Reports say he may get the chance to do that at Forest while also trebling his current salary in north London.
