In Liverpool's narrow 1-0 win over RB Leipzig, Konate returned to his old stomping ground alongside Szoboszlai. However, while the Hungarian received a warm tribute from his former employers, the defender was conspicuously left out of any formal recognition.

Szoboszlai spent three seasons with the Bundesliga side before moving to Liverpool. His contribution to the team was marked with praise and a formal gesture that saw the club present him with a special memento – a symbolic Red Bull statue – in acknowledgement of his time with the club.
WHAT KONATE SAID
Meanwhile, Konate played a crucial role during his four seasons at RB Leipzig from 2017 to 2021. During his time with the German outfit, he helped the team to consistently secure top-three finishes in the Bundesliga and was part of the squad that reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, an accomplishment that remains one of the club’s most significant to date.
The fact that Konate spent more time at the club than Szoboszlai and played a key role in their defensive line made the absence of any recognition for him all the more surprising. Taking to social media, the French defender left a cryptic message in response to RB Leipzig's Instagram post celebrating Szoboszlai, simply writing ‘…’, a subtle yet telling response to being ignored by his former club.
