Mbappe completed his takeover of Caen as a majority owner following a €20 million (£17m/$22m) stake purchase from previous owner Pierre-Antin Capton. The Frenchman has already started making moves in his overhaul as the club are set to appoint a new technical director.

As per , Caen are set to hire Precheur as the technical director to oversee the development of the side as they look to escape the second division of French football. Precheur was the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain's women's team until the September of 2023.

Following Mbappe's takeover of the dwindling club, the Ligue 2 side will hopeful of beginning their upward trend in the French footballing system. The side has played in the second division since their relegation from Ligue 1 following the 2018-19 season which saw them finishing in 19th place only placing above Guingamp.
