Joselu names pick to win Ballon d'OrWon La Liga, Champions League and the EurosOdds favour Vinicius, Rodri or Bellingham to winGetty/GOALWHAT HAPPENED?
Carvajal was the surprise hero for Real Madrid in their Champions League final win over Borussia Dortmund and the 32-year-old transferred that form to the international stage with Spain during their Euro 2024 triumph in Germany. As such, Joselu believes that Carvajal should be the favourite to win the 2024 Ballon d'Or over the likes of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and Rodri, who have been picked as the players with the highest odds of winning the prestigious individual award.

Bellingham and Vinicius also played a major part in Real Madrid's La Liga and Champions League title wins, however, their below-par performances at the Euros and Copa America, respectively, have opened the door for Rodri, who spearheaded Manchester City's Premier League title win and Spain's Euros run. However, Joselu believes that Carvajal stands out ahead of all three.

Speaking to AS, Joselu said: "I have always said it, he [Carvajal] is the one who deserves it the most. He has won everything there is to win, scoring goals, being important, MVP in finals (at Wembley)… He would be more than deserved."
WHAT NEXT FOR CARVAJAL?
Carvajal is not expected to play again until the start of the regular season as he has been afforded an extended vacation due to his participation at the Euros. He will likely only return to training in August once the Real Madrid squad returns from their U.S. pre-season tour.
