Rennes’ former Liverpool defender Chris Mavinga has been linked with a summer switch to West Brom, according to the Express and Star.
Baggies boss Steve Clarke has been keeping a keen eye on the 21-year-old France Under-21 international left-back, who has become a first-team regular with the French Ligue 1 outfit.
And it is being claimed he will try and entice Mavinga back to the Premier League with an offer at the end of the current campaign.
Mavinga failed to make a single appearance with Liverpool and was loaned out to Belgian side Genk in 2011, where he made nine appearances, before joining Rennes on a permanent deal latter that summer for £1million.
Genk have been linked with a move to take him back to the club on a permanent basis, but were put off by the six million euros asking price.
However, Albion would have the funds available to sign Mavinga if Clarke steps up his interest in the player when the transfer window re-opens.
