Two English scouts reportedly spoke with the Real Madrid striker's representatives a few weeks ago to inquire about his circumstances, according to . The plan would be for him to come to Old Trafford as an experienced backup striker for Rasmus Hojlund. He has already been performing well in his role at Real Madrid and a similar role could suit him in the Premier League.

Hojlund had a difficult start to life at Old Trafford with the Danish striker having failed to score for the first three months in the Premier League, however, since then Hojlund hit a goalscoring streak in the league for the Red Devils and has settled in well until his injury ruled him out of action. The club believe that Joselu could provide the perfect support for the 21-year-old on and off the field, especially given his experience in the Premier League. The Spaniard spent a combined three years in the English top flight playing for Stoke City and Newcastle United.
